CFA ANNUAL MEETING OCTOBER 17-20, 2024
Lynchburg, Virginia
Hello Callaways,
We wanted to share some information about our 2024 Annual Meeting. We have been given a special opportunity to participate with other patriots in a re-enactment of the historic battle between the British and American colonists in the area of Virginia where many of our Callaway ancestors settled. The New London Historical Society has been working on this for several years, and it’s scheduled for Oct. 18 & 19, 2024. This historical re-enactment calls for costumes and characters representing people of the era, including James Callaway and other Callaways/Calloways.. This is an opportunity to participate or just observe an integral part of the history of our country and our Callaway history. The area where this re-enactment will take place is in a geological/historical “dig,”. where a team from Liberty University’ has been working. They have discovered many of the Colonial buildings associated with the area’s history.
We will be staying at the:
Bella Vista Hotel and Suites 2900 Candlers Mountain Road Lynchburg, VA 24502 Front Desk. (434) 237-6333
Planned Activities: New London Village

In 1779 Colonel James Callaway and Jeremiah Early expanded this iron plantation to 18,000 acres. The first Oxford Blast Furnace was built by James Callaway, a mile south of Little Beaver Creek. between 1768 and 1772, The second furnace was built by David Ross in late 1776.
