LaGrange, GA is the location of the Troup County Archives which are located in the Museum on Main. Our CFA archives are there and contain information gained by the CFA for 50 years. These archives will be available for your viewing, and an archivist will be there to help you search these files. We will have time for you to search the records and will provide “schooling” on the use of these archives on site and off sight after you return home. So, bring your questions, your documentation, your computer, etc. start looking now at what you need to follow or verify your line. All the info obtained by the ladies who traveled to England at the behest of and funded by CFA is in the archives. We continue to work with the museum staff to update our info and make it more available and usable for you. I suggest you bring a notebook to write down your questions, a phone or camera so you can take pictures, your own 5 generation chart to complete. This is an extremely unique opportunity that is not available normally

If you do not need or want to dig into the archives come to have a good time!  We will visit the museum and see some of the items donated to the museum from our Callaway relatives. Also tour the area where you will see the Callaway name all around you.  The Hills and Dales Estate that was built by Fuller E. Callaway for his family is a beautiful place to visit.  The grounds are magnificent.  The house itself has just recently opened the second and third floors for viewing.  The tour guides will share with us more of the history of Fuller and his family.

While the town of LaGrange is named after a Frenchman, it is unique and yet clearly Americana. Our hotel is two blocks from the museum and surrounded by places to eat, all types of great food. While working in the archives our group tried all we could! So good. On Saturday night we have a young lady bringing a small group to entertain us. She is a classical violinist, she put together a band whose specialty is Appalachian blue grass, and yet she can also do theatre, pop, jazz or easy listening. Again, a unique opportunity for our entertainment.

Come join us to renew your acquaintances and make new friends or “cousins”.
