Callaway Family Association 2026 Annual Meeting October 8-11 LaGrange, Georgia Hello Callaways, Hope you are having a wonderful year and are looking forward to joining us in LaGrange in October. Many of you are saying what is in this little town in Georgia! Well, here is where the Callaway Family Association’s records, and 50 years worth of info is located. This is a genealogical dream come true! Our plans are to have time for you to search the records, but even more to be “schooled” in the how to of researching for our specific records. Over the years the CFA gathered all the information and even sent three ladies to England, on 6 separate trips, to gather records and evidence. Yes, we have all of that for your perusal in LaGrange. At present we have arranged for help from the museum where these are located to come to our Thursday night dinner, present some info and then break up into groups so you can have some personal attention. All of this to say, bring your questions and your documentation to help you make the connections within your own family to others in your lineage. I am encouraging you to start now and look at what you would like to find out, bring your computer with you so you can document as you like, and assure yourself that you can utilize and retrieve info at your own pace and needs. Bring a notebook so you can write it down, a phone or camera so you can take pictures, your 5 generation chart to complete! This is a rather unique opportunity that does not come often. We will be staying at the Courtyard by Mariott in LaGrnge, which is only a few blocks from the hotel. We will provide opportunities for you to have time with the archives and people to help you on Friday and Saturday. Oh no, some are thinking “is this all we are doing”? Of course not! If you know me really well, you know I cannot sit still too long! Located in LaGrange is the Hills & Dales estate built by a Callaway. There is a monument dedicated to a Callaway as well and another mansion that a Callaway gave to a local Women’s Society for their continued work in the area. This area is full of Callaway history and Georgia History. We will tour the museum and see some of the items donated over the years to the CFA. We will visit the gorgeous estate that only Callaway’s have ever lived in. The grounds here are stunning. The town itself has a little of everything and lots of shops and restaurants. A little taste of Georgia and what you may want to do while you are there. We will be sending out the registration around the beginning of June, but you can make your reservations now. You can call 706-668-5600 and mention CFA, Callaway Family Association. Our rate of $149 + taxes is good until 9/15/26 and is available October 7th-12th. If you need anymore help, just drop me an email at badacantley@icloud.com. Come to Georgia and find out which Callaway I am talking about! Barbara Cantley – Meeting Host |
